Google’s New Ad Rotation - Let’s Get Optimising

Breaking news from Google. Introducing a better, simpler ad rotation.

Google announced its new ad rotation on Tuesday. As part of Google’s machine learning to understand and improve AdWords, there will soon just be two options: “Optimize” and “Rotate indefinitely”.

Current Settings

1) Optimize
Ads that are set to “Optimise” are expected to perform better than other ads within an ad group. By using this setting you will be optimising your ads for clicks in each auction using signals like, search terms, location, keywords, devices and more. It is important to remember with Google’s machine learning, that the more information it has, the better it will be able to perform. Google has therefore suggested using an optimised ad rotation for three or more ads per ad group, which will increase both clicks and impressions.

2) Rotate Indefinitely
This option allows advertisers more control over their ads. Rotate indefinitely gives your ads equal preference for being displayed. This will be the only option for even ad rotation in the future and will be available at ad group level, giving you multiple settings across a single campaign.

If you have been itching to dive into AdWords, let’s get in touch.
