Video Killed the Radio Star - PC vs Mobile Dilemma [INFOGRAPHIC]

According to new research by the New Jersey Institute of Technology the future of the PC may very well be nearing the end of its reign with mobile dominating the digital space.

Research by the New Jersey Institute of Technology has found that consumers (in the US) are using mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to access the internet over PCs. Although we have seen the increasing trend over the past year (in SA too), this research reaffirms our stance to be mobile first digital marketers. What does mobile first entail? Organisations should be gearing up to create mobile-friendly content, websites and apps to be able to reach their consumers.

As marketers, the mobile question always comes into play especially when marketing to consumers in the digital space. The debate around PC vs mobile is always a hard conversation to have especially when organisations are prone to keeping marketing antics and strategies linear. All we can say is thank goodness for research! Finally, we now have more and more physical evidence to back up our mobile first driven digital marketing campaigns, and we couldn’t be happier!

The below infographic, developed by the Online Master of Business Administration degree program of the New Jersey Institute of Technology does an amazing job of explaining the gist of the research done at the university. Their final recommendations suggest that although PC still plays a big role in e-commerce transactions, the initial time and browsing events happen on mobile. It will be up to marketers to be able to fuse technology, digital, mobile and store experiences together if they are wanting to engulf the digital consumer.

Future of Mobile Technology
